Pull up a chair, it’s been awhile

Homemade pizza party – ingredients ready to go!

Well world, I’m really sorry to have abandoned you these last couple of months. It’s just been one thing after another this year- a whirlwind to say the least. Basically, I went from working too much to getting ‘laid-off’ to making a major career shift to training for a half-marathon to picking up and moving to yet another country all since I blogged last.

BUT, while I did not have time to write, I do assure you that I never stopped cooking or working out recipe ideas, so thankfully I have a couple months’ backlog worth of dishes to share. I’ve also had two more cooking parties, nearly crafted the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe and become painfully addicted to the Waitrose cooking magazine.

Oh, and I did a minor thing and kind of became a vegetarian. Kind of. I am Texan, so the idea of giving up meat once and for all is probably somewhat blasphemous. I believe the technical term for what I’ve become is ‘flexitarian‘ … although that’s a bit of a tongue-in-cheek reference and apparently true vegetarians hate this term (if you can believe what you read online, hah). The truth is that the green, flower-child inside of me has been making a concerted effort to significantly cut back on my meat intake since about February. Which roughly translates to about 1/5 of my meals being meat-based now with probably over half of those being fish.

My cookbook collection

Anyway, I will share much more on that whole experience probably in another month or two when I do a feature on vegetarian recipes. But obviously this has been a huge adjustment in my cooking life. However, for the sake of OntheFly (and my mounds of half-used cookbooks), I’m still trying to find a balance.

All that being said, I’m back! And I’m ready to charge ahead. Look forward to more frequent features, finally having some helpful ‘pages’ added, a more robust Facebook page and some hot Pinterest action before the year ends! As always …

~Happy Cooking!~

Just me, stuffing my face.
